Naming Your ThreadThere are a few rules and things to consider when naming your thread:
Thread Name
Thread Time
Open/Closed
Thread NameA thread name does much towards drawing players towards playing with you. These should be short and punchy enough that they are easy to remember, and yet interesting enough that players see them and want to know more.
There are many ways to do this, including making you thread title funny, making it a bit of a mystery, or even colourful. Try to use descriptive and imaginative language and keep the title relevant to what you intend the thread to be. Puns are a good way of keeping a thread interesting, for who can deny that they are drawing in by funny or silly things? See below for examples of the type of thing we mean:
Baking: A Piece Of Cake
Bored Of The Rings
A Fight For Freedom
Apathy: A Conflict Of Disinterest
Lions And Tigers And Vampires
Journey To Alibus Isle
The Black Fist Take Down
Dragon Attack
Living In The Dragon Claw DeltaYou thread title can also give an idea of how long you expect the thread to run, in game time. After all ‘Living in The Dragon Claw Delta’ could simply be a slow and gentle thread in which not much happens but for the day by day living on those residing there. Similarly, ‘Journey To Alibus Isle’ depending on where it starts could be a long and epic tale of the journey from one end of the country to another.
Thread TimeOne would normally assume that most threads being started fresh on the group would be taking place in the present. However, since Maltesa has such a full history, it would do, to include in your thread title the year in which your story is taking place. This is especially important if using important landmarks like The Ice Wolf Tavern or The Courthouse in Serena. Depending on when you play, some of these things may not exist. Also, historical events like Maioliath’s burning of The Wastes and the Battle Of The Demon Hordes may or may not have taken place depending on when you play. Be sure to include the year of your story (in the Malteese Reckoning – MR) in the thread subject line.
Open/ClosedAs discussed in
Creating A Thread it is important for people to know whether or not a thread is open a closed. Therefore, please include this information in your thread name.
ExamplesSo… if you were planning an open thread set in present time Maltesa in which a the central theme of your story was a bar fight, your thread title may look like this:
Open: ‘Bar Room Rumble!’ 795MRA closed thread taking place during the course of the demon war might well look like this:
Closed: ‘Defending The Keep’ 793MR
